History of the Domaine de la Vivande

The Bastide, the estate's main building, is a former stone sheepfold that likely dates back to the 18th century.

Just a stone's throw from the Bastide, the Mas began as a small farmhouse. Its living quarters consisted of only two rooms: a large kitchen, the heart of the home and center of daily life, and a bedroom. The rest of the building was dedicated to farming, livestock, and storing the harvest.

The Bastide was expanded on the courtyard side to support the estate's agricultural and pastoral activities. The stone facade still bears traces of this extension.

Domaines & événements has taken over the estate and acquired the neighboring farmhouse, adding even more charm, variety, and space to the project.

Domaines & événements will celebrate the grand opening of Domaine de la Vivande on June 30, 2026, in the presence of the Mayor and local officials from Marsanne. Extensive renovations were carried out between 2025 and 2026, including the redesign of the landscaped grounds, the refurbishment of guest accommodations, new interior decor, and the planting of 1,500 lavender plants across the property.

Construction will be completed in the spring of 2027 with the opening of the Mas and the Bastidon, expanding the estate's accommodation options. The Bastide and the Mas continue their shared history: once a sheepfold, then a farm and hotel, they are now becoming a venue dedicated to private events, weddings, and corporate seminars.
Learn more
This tradition continues today: meals, large banquet tables, and moments of sharing remain at the heart of the weddings, stays, and events organized at the Domaine de la Vivande. In a region intimately associated with lavender, and surrounded by plots where this plant is still cultivated, the proximity between the words "Vivande" and "lavande" naturally fuels the imagination of the place. We have chosen to reconnect with this micro-local tradition by replanting 1,500 lavender plants on the estate.
Acquired by the Domaines & événements group, the Domaine then entered a new phase in its history. Drawing on his experience in real estate and hotel development, its founder, Nicolas Tommasini, chose to give it a dual positioning, catering to both private and professional events. A complete renovation was undertaken to create new reception spaces, gardens, rooms, and parking. This new direction aims to preserve the heritage and soul of the Domaine while anchoring them in a modern, viable, and sustainable economic model.
Did you know?
In the Drôme Provençale, a land of lavender and windmills, the mills of yesteryear were not always intended for grinding grain. Many were used to press olives or extract the essence of the aromatic plants that still perfume our hills and our small stone house today. It is this spirit that we find in the history of the Vieux Moulin. Tucked away at the end of a dirt road, like a well-kept secret, this former miller's house evokes the verses of a popular song that makes all the mills of our hearts turn at the sound of its name... At the Domaine de la Vivande, between Provençal stone and the sweetness of life, let the stone and the water cradle your most beautiful promises.
In Provence, planting three cypress trees at the entrance to a farmhouse is an ancient tradition, a symbol of hospitality. In the past, their number indicated to passing travelers the welcome they could expect: one cypress for a drink, two for food and drink, and three for bed and board. At the Domaine de la Vivande, these three cypress trees perpetuate this beautiful promise of hospitality.
